Adam Gerstenmier
Founder & Managing Director
Adam founded African Century Group to bring decades of global development leadership to bear on Africa’s most consequential opportunities. He works with visionary leaders and institutions on strategy, partnership facilitation, and resource mobilization across governance, food systems, sustainable development, and climate action. He is a founding member of the African School of Governance Foundation Council and a Trustee of the SDG2 Advocacy Hub.
Adam brings nearly two decades of experience as a global development executive, strategist, and alliance builder. He has held C-suite roles including Executive Director of the Food Action Alliance, Chief of Party and Strategic Initiatives at AGRA, Chief of Staff for the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit, Chief of Staff and Strategy to the President of AGRA, and Chief of Staff at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. During 2023–2024, he served as a Senior Advisor on Food Systems within the COP28 UAE Presidency, contributing to the historic COP28 UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action, endorsed by 160 Heads of State and Government.
Adam holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Davidson College. He is based between Kigali, Rwanda and Nairobi, Kenya.
